I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Political Sociology from Stanford University and my Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology from John F. Kennedy University.
I am a licensed Marriage Family Therapist, with sixteen years of clinical experience. I specialize in working with relationships. I am a Certified Advanced Imago Relationship Therapist.
I have long been fascinated by communication, the glue of relationships. I first learned about and worked with Imago Therapy in 1994 at the Pasadena Institute for Relationships. I later trained under Dehneya Pompey of Emphasis on Communication in Pacific Grove. Dehneya taught me about NonViolent Communication and certified me as a Communication Facilitator. After I earned my License as a Therapist, I spent several years training with Imago Faculty Members Dr. Francine Beauvoir and Dr. Bruce Crapuchettes of the Pasadena Institute for Relationships. More recently I trained under Imago Faculty Member Rebecca Sears towards earning Certification as an Advanced Imago Therapist and as an Imago Workshop Presenter.
I grew up riding horses and find them to be helpful for some clients in treatment. I am Certified by the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship (PATH International) as a Therapeutic Riding Instructor and as an Equine Specialist in Mental Health and Learning. PATH is known for having the highest safety and other standards in the industry. I provide Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy to clients who will benefit from this kind of therapy. If you are curious to know more, please give me a call, and/or visit PATH International and click on “Learn about EAAT.”
I am bilingual and provide services in English and Spanish.I have lived in Europe and South America for short periods of time and like working with people of cultures different from my own.
I am the mother of a young man who grew up with cerebral palsy. I offer over 70 rich years of life experience which includes working in diverse fields such as exercising and starting thoroughbred race horses and driving commercial trucks. I believe my life experience helps me have empathy and compassion for what challenges my clients.
I am comfortable working with a variety of presenting issues. I work in a nonjudgmental, emotionally safe and understanding manner. As a facilitator, I help individuals, families and couples come together in a safe, mutually supportive environment to grow through conflicts and issues (including “exits” such as affairs).
